Adding Images with Dreamweaver

In this lesson you’ll learn to add images using Dreamweaver.

So far you've made web pages that just have text. One of the cool things about the web is that it can have pictures. In Word or Powerpoint, you can just cut and paste graphics into your document. That doesn't work for web pages – graphics need to live in their own files. In Dreamweaver, you can’t just use the copy command to get a picture onto your web page.

So how can you get a picture on a web page into a file on your computer? The easiest way is to save the image directly from Internet Explorer.

Follow these steps:

1)      Go to a web page that has a picture you want to use. Right click on the picture and choose Save Picture As…:

2)      In the Save Picture dialog box, go to your website folder, choose a file name, and click Save.

3)      Go to Dreamweaver, look at the Files box and find the file you just saved:

4)      Using the mouse, drag the file to your web page:

You can also use the Insert menu and choose Image.

5)      To change the size of the image, click on it and drag the corner. Hold the shift key down while you drag to stop the image from distorting.
